Indigenous Education
The goal of the Indigenous Education Initiative is to improve educational outcomes for on-reserve, Indigenous youth on a national scale. The Initiative seeks to positively impact 1,000 Indigenous children directly by 2025 and to inform public policy on how on-reserve K-12 educational needs can be best addressed.
The Innovation Alliance brings multidisciplinary groups of people together to share new ideas, ask powerful questions, and learn from one another outside of traditional classrooms and boardrooms. From Think Tank events to collaborative partnerships, the Alliance begins by asking participants "what does innovation look like in your world?" and "how might we work with and learn from each other?"
Aligned Learning is an approach that focuses on aligning learning with students’ lives outside of school, how technology is reshaping the human experience, social-emotional wellness, jobs/entrepreneurship, and globalization. At its core, Aligned Learning involves advancing traditional and emerging literacies while integrating different instructional approaches.
The goal of the Exemplar Project was to co-create with our partner First Nation an effective educational model that better meets the learning needs of children attending school on reserve. Exemplar Project learnings will be scaled to create effective approaches in Indigenous communities across Canada.
The goal of the Amistad project was to provide program development, specific training for new staff, and the achievement culture at the school.Throughout the course of the consultation, we looked for areas to leverage and adapt the Calgary Academy program for Amistad students’ unique learning context.
The Innovation Exchange Think Tank series involves topic-based sessions that brings multidisciplinary groups of people together to share new ideas, ask powerful questions, and learn from one another outside of traditional classrooms and boardrooms.
