Empowering Aboriginal students

Aboriginal Education Project — Canada & USA

The Aboriginal Education Project is a multi-phased project that identifies what’s working and what’s not working in the current Aboriginal education system. We’re looking for opportunities to develop innovative learning solutions that will empower Aboriginal students to become productive contributors in their community and in Canadian society. The four phases include: (1) A comprehensive review of research literature on Aboriginal Education to identify common themes, challenges and pitfalls. (2) Site visits to select schools to investigate critical success factors and how key themes are integrated into practice. (3) In 2017, a conceptual model for Aboriginal Education will address academic achievement as well as economic, community and societal factors that may impact the student experience. (4) The final phase is the launch of a pilot project in a real world setting to test and enhance the model as needed. Our objective is to ensure the model is scalable, replicable and self-sustaining.
